The Environment
Using Continuum Systems for your household or business allows you maximise energy efficiencies.
Heating and water controls are fundamental to any house.
Did you know that nearly 50% of the CO2 emissions produced by the UK come from heating (and cooling) in buildings?
Did you know that 66% of the energy we use in a typical UK home is used for space heating, and a further 16% is used for heating hot water?

A Smart Heating control system allows you to precisely monitor how your heating is being used and allows you to fine tune timings and set-points by areas to ensure your comfort is maintained while eradicating wasteful usage at certain times of the day. ‘Lifestyle’ settings can be programmed giving you the ability to change the area settings with a single command.
Energy efficient products can help reduce waste and reduce energy costs. The following are ways you can utilise products to increase energy efficiency:
- Our ‘House Status’ switches allows you to see what rooms in the house have lights on at any time and permits you to turn them all off from one button.
- Set back your ‘Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning’ (HVAC) system in unused areas instead of reheating a room, creating a much more cost effective living and working environment.
- Activate the control to turn off HVAC if doors or windows are left open too long.
- Turn off lighting and HVAC when no motion is detected for an extended period.
- Set back HVAC and turn off lights when arming the security system.
- Remove "HOLD" settings and set back thermostats when going on vacation.
- Using Continuum Systems bespoke software at work to check on the house status. You can change lights and HVAC status from work if the last person to leave the home forgot to turn off lights or set back the HVAC.
- Automatically schedule your heating and air conditioning settings based upon season, day of the week and time of day. They allow you to set back temperatures when you are not home and to warm/cool the home to your desired temperature for when you return home.
- Light level maintenance or daylight harvesting can be utilised to reduce artificial light levels on bright days for areas close to windows. This has the benefit of not only reducing energy consumption but also in providing a more comfortable working environment. Studies have shown that a properly designed and installed lighting control system can reduce energy consumption by up to 50%.
